A Home Away from Home
I have lodged at Villa Schreiner multiple times
over the past 9 months when visiting South Africa. I travel to Joburg about
every other month on business. I discovered Michiel's hide-away while surfing
TA and hope I can help others make the same discovery -- just don't be in my
room when I am due back in town. I have stayed in all of the rooms at the Villa
and discovered that they all have their own special character, comfort and
provide a great place to relax away from the bustling city. My favorite place
to hang is the Boma where Michiel has thoughtfully provided an honesty bar and
relaxing furniture by the pool and garden. It has now become a informal
tradition that Michiel prepares a Braai at least one night whenever I visit. I
was even able to bring along 3 of my business colleagues on the last trip --
they all wanted to know how I found such a delightful place. I will also
mention the wifi is strong, the coffee is delicious, the staff are very
competent -- and the dog is happy to see me. The location is in a nice neighborhood
and close to a small park. oh -- one more thing -- great breakfast choices too.
Ciao. Room Tip:I've stayed in all the rooms -- all good!

Wonderful relaxing, friendly place.
Nothing was too much trouble. My wife and I stayed at Villa Schreiner for 2 weeks whilst
having medical treatment at a local clinic. We needed somewhere quiet and
relaxing. Michiel (the owner) made us feel so welcome. He arranged an airport
pick-up for us and showed us the best places to eat locally. Our room was large and comfortable and well
equipped with a lovely view of the large garden with its pool and the gorgeous
"summer house" which was a joy to sit in. The B&B is in a
residential area and about 20 minutes walk from Douglasdale centre which has restaurants, bars and supermarkets. It is just across the road from Jukskei Park with its charming river.Michiel has been in the tourism business for many years and runs a business organising safaris. We needed a few days away and he kindly organised a superb trip for us and booked the accommodation and organised a Hire Car that was delivered to us at the B&B. He even lent us
his SatNav ! All in all, if you are looking for a good value, friendly,
relaxing place to stay then we recommend you consider Villa Schreiner.

Convenient alternative for a hotel
Our stay at Villa Schreiner was very enjoyable. Excellent service in a great surrounding, as well as the convenient transportation from and to the international airport. Especially the fabulous tropical garden is an "oasis" after our long flight from the Netherlands.

Perfect stay with every comfort!
The perfect place to stay when you are in Johannesburg. Every wish is being fulfilled with a great "at home"feeling. This is the second time for me at Villa Schreiner, and I will certainly return soon to enjoy Michiel's fanatastic service and dedicated hospitality.

Stuck in
Johannesburg due to the Vulcano outburst (Iceland).
Michiel Schreiner offered us hospitality at
Villa Schreiner Guest House, and arranged a trip through the Drakensbergen in
order to bridge the time of our first opportunity to fly home. We travelled to
Three Tree Hill Lodge (Bergville) and had a wonderful time wandering through
the history of the Anglo-Boer War. We enjoyed the facilities of Hartford House
in the middle of the Drakensbergen and ended up in the Oyster Box Hotel in
Umhlanga Rocks. A unique trip through a more than impressive country. Listen to
the advice of Schreiner Africa, always correct in organizing and programming.

We felt very much at home at Villa Schreiner!
Our host Michiel happened to celebrate his birthday on the day we arrived. We celebrated this with him while enjoying a glass of good South African wine. Michael arranged for us a very short notice, a 2 day safari in the Entabeni game reserve, a mere 2.5 hour drive from Johannesburg, which we highly recommend. The shops and restaurants are a stone's throw away, and the Bryanston Golf Club is also worth a visit. Thanks Michiel, we will be back for sure!

A perfect and very safe start of our holiday!
After a long flight from London, we were very happy that Michael arranged for a safe transfer from the airport to Villa Schreiner. The villa is situated in a very nice and quiet residential suburb, and we felt immediately at home. The next day Michael gave us a very good briefing about our journey, and the rental car was already at Villa Schreiner. We certainly can recommend Schreiner for your trip to South Africa.

Villa Schreiner is a perfect place to start your travels in Southern
Africa. This B&B is a homely place with a beautiful garden and
swimming pool only a 30 minute drive from the airport. It is situated
in a quiet residential area. The host, who is also a very good travel
agent, prearranged our transfer. It makes you feel safe and comfortable
arriving in the evening in what is not known as one of the safest
places in the world. The host provided us with a lot of useful tips and
tricks for our stay in SA. We also did some shopping in the nearby shopping mall (AC-adapter) and had dinner in a very nice restaurant
called the Throbbing Strawberry.
